Athena N. Edmonds: Venture Partner. Athena Edmonds is the founder and manager of Zoe Capital, a fund whose principal investment focus is seed stage software start-ups - particularly companies where subsequent venture capital is required. Before founding Zoe Capital, she co-founded and served as Managing and General Partner of Fayerweather LP since its inception in 1995. Fayerweather was a fund that made angel investments in high tech start-ups. As of November 1999, Ms. Edmonds has invested in well over 20 companies at an early stage, including Instill, CareerCentral, Faxnet, Post Communications, HighPoint, and Delphi Internet Services. Zoe Capital was recently highlighted in a Boston Software News article.

Before founding Fayerweather, Athena Edmonds was a management consultant with Charles River Associates. Ms. Edmonds holds a BS degree from MIT in Materials Science and Engineering, a BS from the Sloan School of Management, and a Certificate of Post-Graduate studies in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge in England. 

Athena Edmonds lives with her husband and three daughters in Belmont, MA. She is currently serving on the Venture Capital Advisory Board for the Center of Women and Enterprise in Boston.

Edward Belove: Venture Partner. Ed Belove is an active angel investor and a business development and technology consultant for greenhouse and start-up companies including Interval Research Corporation and idealab!.

Prior to this, he was Vice President of Technology for Ziff-Davis Interactive, where he was responsible for the overall architecture and design of the Interchange Online Service as well as development of a number of online and CD-ROM based products. With the sale of Interchange to AT&T in 1995, he continued his work with the online service, as well as consulting to other groups within AT&T’s Emerging Services Division.

As Vice President of Corporate Research and Development at Lotus Development Corporation from 1985 to 1991, he was responsible for new product and technology development including Lotus' multimedia efforts and the development of such pioneering products as Lotus Improv, Lotus Agenda, Lotus Magellan and the software for the HP-95LX pocket computer.

Ed was Vice President of Development at Microcom, Inc for the first four years of the company’s operation (1981-1985). In addition to development of numerous software and firmware communication products, his group was responsible for the definition of the Microcom Networking Protocol (MNP). 

He started his computer career at Data General Corporation (1972-1981), where he held a variety of programming, product design and management jobs, working on systems architecture, operating systems, networking and distributed systems.

Ed is a graduate of Harvard College with a B.A. in Applied Mathematics.

Dorothy A. Terrell: Venture Partner.  Dorothy Terrell’s career includes leadership roles in three premier technology companies. Most recently, Dorothy served on the executive team of NMS Communications, a pioneer in the delivery of voice, video, and data services. Her roles at NMS included President of the Platforms & Services Group; SVP of Worldwide Sales; and SVP of Corporate Operations. 

Prior to joining NMS, Dorothy was a Corporate Officer at Sun Microsystems and President of SunExpress, the company’s aftermarketing and on-line services business. In this role she and her team pioneered Sun’s ability to conduct business through electronic commerce.

Prior to Sun, Dorothy held diverse leadership roles at Digital Equipment Corporation, including building a concurrent engineering/manufacturing operation that transformed two unproven technologies into high volume products. 

Dorothy’s numerous awards include being named one of the “Top 50 Women Line Managers in America” by Executive Female magazine; a “Top Ten Business Marketer” by Business Marketing magazine; and one of “20 Women of Power and Influence in Corporate America” by Black Enterprise magazine. She was also a subject in The Wizards and Their Wonders: Portraits in Computing, an exhibit of The Computer Museum in Boston, and The Enterprising Woman, a book by Mari Florence. 

Dorothy’s current Board appointments include General Mills, Inc; Sears, Roebuck and Company; Herman Miller, Inc; the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council; Massachusetts General Hospital; and the National Housing Partnership Foundation. She also serves in leadership roles with numerous community organizations, including the Dimock Community Health Center and Boston 2004. She is a Founding Board Member of the Commonwealth Institute. 

Dorothy holds a B.A. from Florida A & M University, which has presented her with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
